Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a normal component of skin that is produced by our body’s fibroblasts throughout our lives.
Hyaluronic acid macromolecules attract water, which is responsible for the suppleness and thickness of young skin. The amount in the skin decreases with age, with consequent reduction in suppleness and thickness. As the thickness decreases, the skin appears to collapse on itself, making wrinkles and folds more noticeable.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are cosmetic injectables that replace lost HA as we age. Volume and thickness are restored, and wrinkles and folds are diminished.
When performed with precise skill by a board-certified dermatologist, the results with hyaluronic acid fillers are very good. When necessary, however, a naturally occurring enzyme, hyaluronidase, can remove HA filler within 24 hours if the patient is not happy with their results. This makes the removal of unwanted HA fillers very easy.
HA fillers are very popular with patients as they are FDA approved, considered safe for most patients, and simply restore lost hyaluronic acid stolen from us by the ravages of time.
If you’re interested in what these dermal fillers can do for you, please set up a consultation with us, and we’ll discuss your facial rejuvenation goals, determine if you’re a good candidate for treatment, and help you look more youthful.
We offer the following HA fillers in our Indianapolis dermatology practice:
BELOTERO BALANCE® is a monophase double-cross-linked HA filler that is very soft and pliable. Belotero is used to treat moderate-to-severe lines and wrinkles.
Restylane Kysse provides flexible, natural-looking lip enhancement results for improved contouring, symmetry, and fullness. Results can last up to one year.
Restylane Lyft, formerly known as Perlane, is similar to Restylane except that the hyaluronic acid particle size is smaller, thereby making it a formal implant. This characteristic makes Restylane Lyft ideal for deep folds and deeper places of injection. It’s a popular hyaluronic acid filler for non-surgical cheek enhancement.
Restylane Silk, Galderma’s first filler designed specifically for lip enhancement, is a smooth, thin HA filler that provides natural-looking, subtle lip augmentation, symmetry, and contouring.
Resilient Hyaluronic Acid (RHA) fillers are more flexible. This allows it to adapt to your natural facial movements with a natural-looking facial rejuvenation. We offer the RHA Filler Collection by Revance in our Indianapolis dermatology clinic.
