Restylane Defyne in Indianapolis
Our skin naturally starts losing elasticity as we age. This phenomenon tends to produce lines, wrinkles and folds on the face that deepen over time, causing us to look old beyond our years. If you’re self-conscious about folds and wrinkles that have developed around your mouth and nose, treatment with Restylane Defyne may be the answer. Approved by the FDA in December 2016 and available in Europe since 2010, Restylane Defyne can be used to contour and volumize facial wrinkles and folds for up to one year. If you’re ready to eliminate wrinkles and folds without resorting to plastic surgery, Restylane Defyne is a safe, effective solution.
Primary Uses for Restylane Defyne
Restylane Defyne, from the Restylane family of injectable fillers, is specifically designed to address moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles. As a highly supportive, somewhat flexible solution, it’s ideal for addressing issues like marionette lines, wrinkles that extend from the corners of the mouth to the chin, and nasolabial folds, which extend from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth. This product may also be used to effectively address laugh lines. Its proprietary formula ensures results that look completely natural. In addition, you’ll be able to maintain natural facial expressions and movements.
Why Choose the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of Indiana for Restylane Defyne?
Along with Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that effectively addresses facial lines, folds and wrinkles without negatively impacting your ability to make natural facial expressions. As effective as it may be, however, the manner in which it’s administered dramatically impacts the results. Therefore, it’s important to have the treatment performed by an experienced and talented dermatologic surgeon. Dr. C. William Hanke is a board-certified dermatologic surgeon and founder of the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Indiana (the LASSI); the LASSI participated in the clinical trials for BOTOX, Kybella, and Restylane. When it comes to Restylane Defyne treatments, and other cosmetic injectable treatments, you’ll be in good hands with our team.
What to Expect During a Restylane Defyne Consultation
The main purpose of your consultation will be to assess whether any areas of your face could benefit from Restylane Defyne injections. During the consultation, Dr. Hanke will also bring you up to speed regarding possible side effects and other potential issues. To ensure that you’re an ideal candidate, we’ll also take down your complete medical history.
What to Expect During Your Restylane Defyne Treatment
Treatments with Restylane Defyne are quick, easy and safe for just about anyone who is age 21 or older. To begin, the dermatologic surgeon will have the treatment area prepped with an antiseptic alcohol. Restylane Defyne contains 3 mG/mL lidocaine, an anesthesia, but topical anesthesia may be applied as well if desired. Next, a series of injections will be made. The technique that is administered, the depth that is penetrated and the volume that is used all vary depending on the issue that is being addressed. After administering the injections, the dermatologic surgeon may gently massage the area to mold the solution so that it contours the surrounding tissue and is evenly distributed.
Restylane Defyne FAQ
Contrary to what you may think, plastic surgery is not the only way to effectively address facial lines, folds and wrinkles. Restylane Defyne produces natural-looking results that last 12 months or more, allowing you to reclaim a healthier, more youthful appearance. As safe and effective as it is, Restylane Defyne is still a medical treatment, and it may not be right for everyone. Ideally, any questions should be answered during your consultation. In the meantime, here’s an FAQ to get the ball rolling.
How does Restylane Defyne work?
Restylane Defyne is an injectable hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Galderma, the manufacturer, uses its proprietary XpresHAn technology to produce a gel-like substance that is remarkably smooth. The technology works by customizing the degree to which hyaluronic acid particles cross-link with one another. This creates a solution that’s less flexible but that provides a greater degree of support than Restylane Refyne. Folds, lines and wrinkles are effectively smoothed away, but you’ll retain the ability to make natural facial expressions and movements.
How is Restylane Defyne administered?
This dermal filler is administered through a series of injections. Tiny blunt-tipped cannulas are used, rather than sharp needles. The depth to which the solution is injected, the amount that is administered and the technique that is used vary depending on the issue that is being addressed. Once the filler has been injected, the treatment site may be gently massaged to evenly distribute and mold it to the natural contours of the surrounding tissue.
Who is a good candidate for Restylane Defyne?
Restylane Defyne is FDA-approved for adults ages 21 and over. An ideal candidate is anyone who meets that requirement and wants to do something about facial lines, wrinkles and folds. In particular, those who have marionette lines, nasolabial folds and laugh lines are generally suitable candidates for this treatment — especially if they want to avoid undergoing plastic surgery.
What are the ingredients?
The main ingredient in Restylane Defyne is a specially formulated hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronic acid is used because it’s a naturally occurring carbohydrate that’s found in highest concentrations in the skin, the joints and the eye sockets, where it assists with increasing moisture, retaining collagen and maintaining flexibility and elasticity. These characteristics make it an excellent choice for smoothing out facial lines, folds and wrinkles. Galderma has improved upon the formula with its XpresHAn technology, which customizes the degree to which the HA particles cross-link, allowing for improved contouring and volumizing while ensuring natural-looking results.
Is Restylane Defyne painful? Can anesthesia be used?
Because Restylane Defyne is administered in a series of injections, it’s natural to be concerned about discomfort. To address this, the formula contains a small amount of lidocaine, a local anesthesia. When an injection is administered, the dermatologic surgeon will pause very briefly at first to allow the lidocaine to take effect. This will reduce the amount of discomfort you may experience. If you’re worried about discomfort, a topical anesthesia may also be used. However, the vast majority of people who undergo this treatment do well without any topical anesthesia.
How long does a Restylane Defyne treatment take?
The length of time that it takes to perform a Restylane Defyne treatment varies depending on the nature and extent of the issue that is being addressed. More than one syringe may be required, for example, and more than one area may need to be treated. In general, however, these treatments typically take anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes to complete. This includes the time that it takes to prepare the treatment site. No recovery time is necessary, so you should be able to walk right back out the door when the treatment is complete.
How long does it take to see results?
Restylane Defyne goes to work to instantly smooth away facial folds, lines and wrinkles. Temporary swelling at the treatment site is normal, and this can mask the effects of the treatment for a little while. It’s also sometimes necessary to undergo a follow-up treatment, depending on how the first round goes. Most people have the follow-up treatment performed about three weeks after the first.
How long do results last?
In clinical studies that were performed by Galderma, the manufacturer, subjects were asked to assess how noticeable the results of their Restylane Defyne treatments were after defined periods of time. At the six-month point, 77.1 percent of subjects reported that they were still satisfied with the results of their treatment. At the one-year mark, 69.7 percent reported that they were still satisfied and that the results were still noticeable. Therefore, you can expect the results from your Restylane Defyne treatment to last at least one year.
Is there any downtime?
There is no real downtime to speak of when it comes to Restylane Defyne treatments. The vast majority of patients are able to walk right out of the office and carry on with their day. However, for the first 24 hours after undergoing treatment, you should avoid excessive exposure to sunlight and heat. In addition, you should hold off on any strenuous exercise. If you experience swelling at the treatment site, you can apply a cold ice pack to bring it down. For any minor discomfort that you experience after the procedure, acetaminophen can be taken.
How much does Restylane Defyne cost?
It’s not possible to quote specific prices for Restylane Defyne treatments because they vary considerably depending on the situation in question. For example, some treatments only require one syringe while others require several. Since results from this treatment last for 12 months or longer, however, the monthly cost when broken down is generally quite affordable. If you need more specific information about the cost of Restylane Defyne treatments, contact the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Indiana.
Who shouldn’t get a Restylane Defyne treatment?
Restylane Defyne is extremely safe and effective, as evidenced by the fact that it has been approved by the FDA for use in adults ages 21 and over. With that being said, the treatment is not right for everyone. If you’re experiencing a skin infection at the treatment site, for example, you must wait for it to clear up. Those who have a history of severe allergies and allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, or those who are allergic to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins should also hold off on receiving Restylane Defyne treatments.
Are there any potential complications?
In clinical trials, the most common adverse effects from Restylane Defyne treatments included swelling, inflammation, minor discomfort and lumps or bumps at the treatment site. Additionally, if injections are not administered properly, there’s a risk of blood vessel damage. This is another reason why it’s so important to have this treatment performed by a reliable dermatologic surgeon. You can expect to have a talented and experienced physician when you turn to the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Indiana.
Where can I find Restylane Defyne before and after photos and testimonials?
In clinical studies that tested subjects’ perception of the naturalness of their expressions in motion one month following treatment, 97 percent reported that they would undergo the treatment again, 95 percent said they would recommend it to a friend and 97 percent claimed they were satisfied with the results. Before and after photos of people who have undergone this procedure are available online, including on the official website for Restylane Defyne. Additional photos and testimonials can be found elsewhere on the Internet, so it’s easy to learn what you need to know about this treatment before undergoing it.
